Gold
Gold is one of the five main resources in the game, next to food, lumber, stone, and iron.
Uses
Gold is consumed by the following actions:
- Paying hero salaries (done automatically)
- Researching technologies
- Buying and selling resources at the Marketplace
- Praying, to increase population and prestige
- Blessing, to obtain food
- Healing troops in the rally spot
- Rewarding heroes to increase their loyalty
Acquisition
Gold is not produced by a specific Resource Field, but is instead obtained by taxing the population. The player can set a specific Tax Rate, which then gives gold in relation to the amount of population available in the city. Note that the higher the tax rate is, the lower the loyalty in that city will be, leading to loss of population. Gold can also be won on the Wheel of Fortune, or farming NPCs for resources. If done correctly, large amounts of gold can also be acquired by trading with resource (i.e. buying a resource for a cheap price and selling it for a more expensive price). Gold can also be obtained by killing Vikings during the Viking Challege event.
